Thorsten Nicklass was born in Freising. He studied electrical engineering in Munich and economy in the UK, France and the USA, among others.
Thorsten Nicklass was an officer in the German air force before starting his carrier alongside the entire value chain of telecommunications including end devices, infrastructure and managed services. He worked for medium-sized businesses as well as „blue chip“ businesses like Deutsche Telekom and VIAG Interkom.
After spending several years in the asia pacific region he took over different management jobs to setup new business units at Siemens. 2010 Thorsten Nicklass left Siemens to start his own start grid business. After selling the Entelios AG to ENERNOC, he transferred into a job within the group strategy of BMW where he helped to develop new business models in regards to energy economics. After becoming director of Digital Energy Solutions (a joint venture between BMW and Viessmann Group), Thorsten Nicklass became part of the Volkswagen Group in 2019 where he worked on establishing the brand “Elli” which integrates all activities regarding charging and energy within the Volkswagen Group.
Nicklass has two children and lives in Munich.
