Welcoming address carIT Congress 2017

In future mobility will be different: digitalization, automation, connectivity, new mobility services, emission free powertrain, urbanization and increasing demand are driving the change. The IAA 2017 is bringing this topic to life in a unique way. With its leading edge subject matter and high caliber presenters the carIT congress has been a highlight of the passenger vehicle IAA in Frankfurt am Main for many years. The carIT congress brings together the shapers and decision makers in this highly innovative field, providing the forum for building cross-industry and interdisciplinary bridges between companies, established manufacturers and suppliers, IT and technology companies, start-ups, representatives from politics, communities and public authorities, as well as the press and media.

CV

Since 2007 Matthias Wissmann has been President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) as well as Vice-President of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI). In 2016 he was elected President of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). Previously, the law graduate, economist and political scientist had different political offices clothed within the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, including the post of Federal Minister of Transport. Wissmann is also active as a lawyer and as a book author. Among others are some of his publications, e.g. “Deutsche Perspektiven” (German Perspectives) (1990) and “Die Soziale Marktwirtschaft” (Social Market Economy) (1998).
